Located in the beautiful southeastern Minnesota valley, the Great River Ridge State Trail has picturesque views of river bluffs. Built on former railroad grade, the Great River Ridge State Trail is also a fairly easy ride.

Carley State Park

Carley State Park is located in the Bluffland Landscape Region. Towering white pines stand amid an oak forest at this beautiful park. Delicate wildflowers bloom in April and May and the trail winds around the north branch of the Whitewater River.

Nearly 50 kinds of mammals and 250 kinds of birds use the Whitewater River Valley during the course of a year. Wild turkeys are in the valley and bald eagles can be found year-around. In the spring, listen and look for the rare bird, the Louisiana waterthrush. Of Minnesota’s rare animals and plants, 43 percent live in the Blufflands.

Located just 5 miles from Elgin, in nearby Plainview – This course has fairways lined with oak trees and its small greens are fast. There is water that comes into play on a few holes.
